Dear Voter,

My name is Phil Stinchcomb, and I wanted to introduce myself to you. I am running for County Commission, District 10. Although you will not be voting for me in this primary election, August 3, I would like to share with you my platforms.

It’s all about Jobs
I support the private sector and its ability to create jobs. Our companies are not the problem, our government is. Mandates, unrealistic regulations, and taxes are making our companies leave the state. We do not need to worry about Mexico, China, or India, we need to worry about Indiana!

County Government Reform – It’s Our Money
The County government needs to downsize, like our businesses have been doing for the past several months. I am an advocate to reduce the number of County Commissioners from 17 to 7. We are not free unless government is limited.

County Government Growth – It’s Our Money
County employees were given an increase above their annual pay raise this year, 2010. My opponent supported the increase at a time when private companies continued to cut back. The Gazette reported it.
Kalamazoo County budget calls for pay increases” Published: Tuesday, September 29, 2009, 9:08 AM     Updated: Tuesday, September 29, 2009, 10:04 AM.  “Big Government” is not the answer. The problem is not that people are taxed too little; the problem is that government spends too much.

My Commitment:
Property taxes will continue to fall for the next several years which means the County will have less money to provide current services. I will lead the County Board of Commissioners to work with our cities and townships to reduce costs and implement thoughtful consolidation of services. I will be a responsible steward of your tax dollars. Why? Because I pay them too.

I hope to meet you this summer and fall as I go door to door.

I look forward to earning your vote on November 2nd.

Phil Stinchcomb
